The iMac

Over the years Apple has produced some excellent products. They have produced some of the most inventive devices and some of the first personal pcs that were actually affordable. iMac happens to be one of those devices. Apple introduced the iMac in 1998 when Steve Jobs returned to Apple after he left years ago to start his own company.

One of the things that sets iMac apart from the others was the color that is on the back of the monitor of the computer. The color was always blue in the past and then they made other colors so everyone could express their own personality. They were technically the first company to start offering a personal computer that was meant to meet their personality and not just be another replica of everything else on the market. They had many of the wires and plug ins removed that were found in the original Apples and they just made 2 USB ports and that was a big plus to many people since they had less to deal with and helped save money.

This was also the computer that introduced the use of CD's in order to save information rather than floppy disks. Back then the computer was not capable of burning information to CDs without more hardware that had to be purchased. The iMac will be in the History books as they sold in excess of 800,000 of the White and blue computers in under 140 days. There definately was a big demand for these computers.

The iMac also changed over the years to become something that most other companies could not even dream of. The company strive to make this computer something that would be the person's one stop for all their entertainment needs, including things such as DVD burners and readers. The technology soon became outdated however, which is often how technology works. And because of this the cube design of the iMac was ditched, as people were wanting thinner computers that took up less space while offering more internal memory and speed, something that the iMac simply could not offer.

However, the iMac will go down in history as the device that started it all for all manufacturer. The mini mac, the ibook, the successful switch to using CD Rom instead of floppy disk and so forth are always going to be remembered by those that owned the first iMac. And without it, Apple may not be where they are today, which is the lead of the technology and electronic device field. Apple is a trusted company for computers and many other devices.
