Steve Jobs Biography

Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in which he was adopted by his parents. Throughout this childhood he liked to tinker with electronics and so forth. Perhaps first getting his interest from his father who was always working with his hands and working on cars. Jobs were often described as a competitive person, however, he did not like to participate in group activities or sports. He could often be found at his neighbor's house in the garage tinkering with the electronics that the man had, which were numerous since he worked for Hewlett-Packard. This was his first introduction to the mainstream electronics that were taking over California.

Steve JobsIt was when he was at the age of twelve that he saw his first computer and his love and passion was immediate. Jobs has said that from that moment on he knew that he wanted to work with computers as he got older. He even received parts from Hewlett-Packard while he was in high school for a project and they were so impressed with his boldness and ability that he was given a summer internship after graduating high school in 1972. Once he graduated he went on to attend college however, dropped out after only one semester to go to India to study religions in the eastern world. Something that most people do not realize about the man.

In 1975, after becoming a member of a computer club, he met Steve Wozniak a computer engineer who was explaining that he was building a personal computer. Jobs found this intriguing and decided to hop on board with the project. The two raised funds and worked on selling items in order to survive while they were completing the computer, and forming their Apple Incorporation, which received its name from a summer job that Jobs had picking apples.

Jobs really hit it big with the resale of the Apple II which racked in over two million for the two men. The market was widening in 1980 and the two were always trying to figure out new ways in which to stay ahead of the competition, which they managed to do in most cases. Due to a few failing projects, in 1985 Jobs resigned from his position within the company while still staying on the Board of Directors.

Jobs then started his new computer line called NeXT. They introduced their first computer which was accepted at the convention, though the consumer support for the computer was just not there and it did not render many sales. In 1986, Jobs purchasing Pixar, which gave him much success with movies such as Toy Story, Bugs Life, and so forth that many people.

In 1996, Jobs once again became involved with Apple, as they purchased NeXT. However, probably the most controversial move on behalf of Jobs came in 1997 when he entered into a partnership with Microsoft, their chief competition. However, the two are still working together to this day and they have had much success with sharing information and ideas.
